EVENTS & EXPERIENCES: Running is hard sometimes…

Fall marathon season is definitely upon us. How do we know? We seem to be getting more and more questions on a daily basis regarding INJURY PREVENTION! While running and training for a marathon can be one of the most incredible, fulfilling experiences of a lifetime, it’s also pretty rough on your body!

Luckily, we have forged amazing partnerships with local physical therapists to help take our product knowledge and running experience to a clinical level. Even better – many of these physical therapists come to our stores to host free clinics where they perform injury screenings and offer advice.

Wednesday, September 23 – 6:30pm | Marathon Sports Mansfield

Sunday, October 4 – 9:30am | Marathon Sports Cambridge

PT & Strength Coach Anthony Rork will lead a guided workout, teaching proper form and technique in order to help prevent common running injuries. Following the workout, Anthony and our Cambridge store manager, Peter, will lead the group on a nice run around Cambridge.

Sunday, October 11 – 9:30am | Marathon Sports Wellesley

Dr. Anthony Rork will take his talents out to Wellesley the following week to share his expertise with our friends in the metro-west region. Following the workout, Anthony and our Wellesley store manager, Alison, will lead the group on a nice run around Wellesley.

Tuesday, October 13 – 6:00pm | Marathon Sports Cambridge

Please join Marathon Sports, Saucony, and Outback Physical Therapy as we present a joint session on Biomechanical Dysfunction in Runners: Do I need a PT or a new pair of shoes? The evening will consist of a sports medicine presentation followed by a demonstration of some of Saucony’s newest sneakers. Expert running shoe fitting and recommendations will be provided on site alongside a 20% discount on all purchases for attendees!


Thursday, October 22 – 6:00pm | Marathon Sports Wellesley

Chinese_meridiansLicensed acupuncturist Michael Dell’Orfano will discuss the history and theory behind acupuncture and how acupuncture can benefit active people to keep them healthy and performing at a high level for general wellness. He will also cover how acupuncture is used to treat various injuries associated with physical activity. All attendees will receive 20% off their purchases following the clinic!
