SHOE REVIEW: Nike Lunarglide 7

IMG_3254As someone who has run in the same model of supportive running shoe for nearly a decade, lacing up to run in the Nike Lunarglide 7 was daunting at first. I have not been able to find a shoe that offers a feel and comfort that I enjoy more than that of my usual footwear. BUT, I was pleasantly surprised by all that the Lunarglide 7 has to offer!

What I learned with my experience with the Lunarglides was that you can’t always judge a running shoe simply by how it feels when you first put it on and stand up – my first embrace with the Lunarglide 7’s felt a little awkward, even a little uncomfortable. As I stood there getting a feel for these foreign objects on my feet, the heel counter felt like it was trying too hard to stabilize my foot. The toebox provided more room than my foot has been accustomed to. Overall, I wanike-lunarglide-7-two-new-colorways-01sn’t sure how these would carry me through miles of running – but I was ready to give them a shot.

Running in the Lunarglide 7 was love at first stride. My gait felt smooth, straight, and strong as I crushed the pavement and hills. What was initially an awkward embrace with the heel counter became a supportive hug as I turned over stride after stride; I did not feel the presence of the heel counter as I ran, but I knew that it was helping my biomechanics.

This shoe offers an incredibly soft feel without sacrificing any of its lightweight qualities. The men’s version weighs 9.1oz, women’s 7.9oz. What makes this lightweight fit and feel even better is the airy flymesh upper. Forget the feeling of your hair flowing in the wind – being able to feel the wind flowing through my shoes gave my toes great comfort, especially in the dog days of summer.

109767The wider toebox gave me plenty of room up front while the rest of my foot felt comfortably snug throughout the midfoot and heel. For a shoe that does such a good job supporting my gait, I really felt like I had nothing on my feet as I ran.

The Lunarglide 7 is a triple threat, offering three distinct features: support, cushioning, and a lightweight feel. Runners who stand by shoes like the Mizuno Wave Inspire, Adidas Sequence Boost, or Saucony Guide should definitely consider trying on the Lunarglide for a unique ride.

The Nike Lunarglide 7 is available for both men and women in all Marathon Sports locations.
