So what’s the deal with this shoe?
DNA AMP Midsole Technology
A very interesting new midsole material which is a combination of a polyurethane foam that is encased in a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) skin.
Okay, that was a string of big words that probably doesn’t mean much to most people. But here’s how it works.
- The cushioning in the bottom of the shoe is made of polyurethane foam. When you compress a piece of foam (with your foot in this case), it wants to expand out. Think of what happens when you compress a ball of clay. Same concept.
- BUT, the midsole is wrapped in a Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) ‘skin.’ It acts as a wall to keep the foam from compressing out. But that energy has to go somewhere, so it moves vertically.
- SO, your steps feel springier and more responsive in this shoe!
