Love Love Love! these shoes. As an older runner, I was quite depressed when my left foot developed a metatarsal pinched nerve from running. After a long search for a good shoes with larger toe-boxes, I finally found the Altra Men's Escalante. It feels like walking bare foot! So, comfortable an cured my pinched nerve issue. Ben running with these now for a couple of years and so happy to be able to do so without any pain! Thank you Marathon sports for helping me! time to hit my fav trail!
Solid shoe for everyday long-distance running (10+ miles). The upper has a nice slipper feel to it, the fit is snug, and it’s a stylish shoe to boot. The zero drop combined with the shock absorption in this shoe has made it my go-to for long spring training runs. My two main gripes: I don’t know if it’s the material used in the sole, but it somehow manages to feel like a heavier shoe than the Torin 4.I’ve switched back to a ratty pair of Saucony Kinvara 10 for shorter runs because I felt the Escalante was getting in the way of my speed. Also, like most Altra shoes double-knotting the laces is a must. They are simply too slippery and they’ll come untied a few minutes into my run otherwise. I recommend this shoe if you’re looking for a shoe that can take a beating and will go the distance with you, but if you prefer a lighter touch, consider checking out the Torin 4 instead.
This is my 5th or 6th pair of these sneakers, and I love them. They took some weaning into when I first started using them, from a more traditional running shoe, but they are so comfortable and I love how light and flexible they are.
Good, they are comfortable and fit well. I'm not too sure about the durability because I've only used them for a week now and that's something that would take some time to know so I just went with the middle of the road and hit fair.
