CUSTOMER RATINGS & REVIEWS
- Gel Nimbus
The Gel Nimbus was my first experience with high quality running shoes, so naturally I was pleased with the performance aspect of these shoes when compared with run-of-the-mill, sixty dollar, 'you get what you pay for' shoes. As was mentioned in another review here, there is a firmness about the shoe that could really allow someone to open up to a fast stride. Compared with a few other high-end shoes I tested in the store, there was this immediate feeling that only the Asics Gel Nimbus was going to give me the support I needed for a recovering Achilles tendinitis injury (a serious, two-plus year injury). I would especially recommend the Nimbus for people with a wider tow area (a number of brands are much too narrow for my toes to be comfortable), but I was warned that they may be going narrower in future implementations.
Fit: Traditional Asics fit, little on the narrow side. It ran a little on the short side as well. Comfort: A good high cushion feel. On the firmer side which is something I appreciate in a high cushion shoe. It felt like a shoe that is easy to wear for long runs or for a long day of standing or walking. Ride: The firm feeling prevented the disconnect with the ground that comes with some high cushion shoes. It had a stiff feeling to go with the firm feeling. The heel felt a little bulky which I think caused a bit of a disjointed feel as I ran. So far I've only run with it on flat runs but it feels like a shoe that would handle a lot of downhill running well because of the cushioning.
