Quality Nimbus (Staff Review)

I never doubt the quality of Asics shoes. They are built to last for hundreds miles and will not wear down too quickly. The Nimbus 23 is another great example of this quality! The upper of the Nimbus provides a super secure and snug fit that wraps around your foot. These shoes are comfortable right out of the box. There is also a premium amount of cushion that offers great shock absorbtion and a responsive feel. I like these shoes for daily training and racking up miles. They aren't overly heavy or bulky but they also aren't the quickest option for your fastest runs. Instead, I'd rather run in these shoes for a longer run when I know I'll be getting a bit tired as the time adds up.

A Cadillac in a world of sports cars (Staff review)

I have always known the Nimbus is a great cushioned shoe. I haven't worn it in quite a while though. In an age of Ferraris and Corvettes on your feet, there is nothing quite like the ride of a Cadillac. This is the shoe for the runner who wants to be pampered on the run. I keep pulling this shoe for my recovery runs. I pull it out for the easy long runs. The forefoot is wider than I remember from the past. The trusstic plate keeps the ride solid if my form starts to break down at all. This isn't a shoe for track work, but when you want to cruise, bring out Cadillac, bring out the Nimbus 23.

Plush Aplenty [Staff Review]

A great ride overall. Excellent for longer runs where you may want the extra cushion, or recovery runs as well when you want some relief from the pavement. The heel is locked in and the tread durable enough to give me confidence even with some of these wintry road conditions.

The 23rd Nimbus = A 23rd Excellent Model (Staff Review)

For the 23rd time, Asics has done a fantastic job with the newest model of the Gel Nimbus. The Gel Nimbus 23 has a great degree of cushion that makes the user feel comfortable while standing/walking and responsive while running. I specifically notice that the cushion provides excellent shock absorption while running downhill which makes it feel easier on the joints and more efficient with each stride. The Nimbus 23 also has a good tread on the bottom of the shoe, which makes the sneaker more durable and even more desirable during the winter months when the roads can be a little more slippery. As a Marathon Staff Member who is also a Physical Therapy Student, I find that most customers frequently look for a sneaker that supports well and reduces any risk of running injury. I think that the Gel Nimbus has been a reliable model through the years, and the 23rd version of this shoe is certainly no different. That's why I would recommend this shoe for any neutral runner (or walker!) looking for something durable that they can put a lot of heavy mileage on.

Trust the Trusstic

I run about 70 miles a week and have intermittently put about that amount of miles on the Nimbus 23 over three weeks. My impressions of the shoe are positive insofar as the midsole FlyteFoam is dense and responsive, and not spongely degraded thus far.    The molded plastic arch trusstic is interesting.  I've found in shorter runs, or runs where I feel recovered, the trusstic acts as a catalyst for faster heel-to-toe cadence.  My main concern in longer runs is that as my foot ligaments fatigue and relax, the trusstic remains firm, (as molded plastic does,) and punches up against my relaxed arch, (especially my left foot's lower arch.)  Uneven ground, (in my case frozen grass clods in the baseball outfield,) also pose a problem as the trusstic doesn't mold to bumps in the ground. My recommendation for the Nimbus is using it on smooth surfaces, fresh legs and shorter tempo efforts.  In those instances the firmness of the Flytefoam exhibits great energy return.  Coming from neutral, uniformly cushioned shoes, allow the body to adjust to the trusstic support by breaking the shoe in gradually.  In that regard the Nimbus 23 will allow you to pick up the pace without elevating effort.  7 stars out of 10.
