CUSTOMER RATINGS & REVIEWS
The Levitate has always been a shoe with some pop but could feel clunky at times. But the newest version with DNA AMP cushioning that's 20% lighter brings it to another level. The shoe has a nice firm feel under you but what really sets it apart if the sneaky amount of cushioning that you can experience. It takes the shoe from being a shorter day or "speedier" day shoe to an everyday trainer. The upper is a well fitting knit that provides nice wrapping around the foot for a lock down feeling. Overall, the shoe is great for someone who wants a firm under foot feeling for the pop but needs a little bit of cushioning to take care of the body! Great job Brooks on the update.
The Brooks Levitate 4 is one of my favorite pairs of shoes that I've run in this year. The midsole is firm and there is a perfect amount of cushion for a variety of road runs. The DNA Amp material is high quality and not too heavy. I'm surprised by how fast this shoe feels and have really enjoyed the pop this shoe offers each time I lace them up. The fit of this shoe is also tremendous. Brooks went with a knit construction that provides a sock like wrap around your feet. Still, there is plenty of support along with great breathability. I'm a big fan of this minimal upper as it decreases weight and gives you just what you need in a running sneaker. I highly recommend this model to anyone, especially to fans of other Brooks models like the Ghost or Adreneline. Try these out!
The Brooks Adrenaline used to be my shoe. I now use a variety of shoes, each for their own distance. The Levitate 4.0 fits nicely into mid length runs (5 to 8 miles). The upper is seamless and comfy. It's unique collar design works well. The midsole is a little bit firm, but I like that. Too much squishy foam doesn't work for me. If your looking for something light, and responsive. . this is it!
I tried the Levitate 3 on a little over a year ago and remember LOVING the feeling of high energy return under my feet, but not being able to get over how heavy the shoe was. The new Levitate 4 dropped over an ounce in weight, which is pretty crazy, so Brooks is definitely moving in the right direction in that regard. Honestly it still does feel on the heavier side, but I am accustomed to much thinner shoes after all. And the shoe lost weight without losing any of the characteristic firmness of their DNA AMP cushioning. Every step feels very explosive at toe-off. One important thing to note about the Levitate, and other models in the "Energize" series from Brooks, is that the fit is a little narrower than that of their better known Adrenaline or Ghost in the "Cushion" series. The Levitate does not feel too restrictive though, because it has a full knit upper and I love knit uppers. I generally find that they last longer than mesh uppers for me as they are less likely to rip or fray, but only time will tell with this pair. The knit on the Levitate makes the heel, tongue and toe box feel very lightweight and stretchy while also locking my foot in place. This is a great high-cushion shoe that feels a lot more serious about running than a more squishy and flexible option like an Adidas Ultraboost. I have a feeling it would also do well in the gym, and it is overall probably Brooks' most attractive-looking model. Definitely the type of shoe that makes you feel excited/confident on your run.
