CUSTOMER RATINGS & REVIEWS
- arch support
I enjoyed this shoe. First impression is that it runs a half size small. I normally wear a 9.5 and my toes were crammed in that size. Upon getting a better size for my foot, the shoe is very comfortable. Smooth transition from heal to toe, lots of cushioning from heal to forefoot. My only dislike of this shoe is the overall weight. It is a heavy shoe, I run 5-8 miles almost every day of the week. Wearing this shoe during a 5 miler made me feel as tired as a 7 miler would. I think it would be a great idea if you were really trying to differ the weight between your training shoe and your racing shoe. Almost like playing baseball, where one might swing a heavy bat to warm up before getting up to hit. The upper is very comfortable, I really enjoyed this shoe. But to make it a daily trainer for myself I would like it to be put on a diet.
I took this shoe out for a 5 mile run right out of the box and right away noticed the very plush but firm ride of the shoe. The Horizon 5 is little heavier then what I typically wear to train in but had great heel to toe transition and a surprisingly sneaky snappy feeling to it. The shoe runs true to size and fit my narrow foot pretty well. Despite not being very firm feeling the Horizon provided a very responsive ride. This is a shoe that has earned a place into my rotation and won't be leaving anytime soon.
The Men's Mizuno Horizon 5 brings a level of cushioning that is comforting and relatively unusual for Mizuno. Mizuno's are generally known for quick response, with the user looking to be in close contact with the ground below their feet. This shoe however is very nicely cushioned which allows for lost lasting comfort throughout a long day on your feet. The arch support of this shoe is present but not overwhelming noticeable. I personally really like that the arch support is not too pronounced as it allows the user to feel like they are walking neutrally with the support doing its work behind the scenes. The fit of the shoe is consistent with the rest of the Mizuno lineup, best for someone that is looking to have their feet embraced by a shoe. I absolutely recommend this shoe to anyone with mild to moderate over pronation with a preference for cushion.
