Years ago, I was a big fan of the Kinvara and had even worn a pair as my marathon shoe. But for one reason or another, I got away from the Kinvara and sort of forgot about it. I recently picked up a pair of the Kinvara 11's and have been LOVING them. I use them primarily for speed work days or times when I feel like my legs have a little extra pep in them. My primary, easy mileage training shoe is the Hoka Clifton or Bondi. The Kinvara pairs well with these, as they are much lighter, but have a similarly low heel-to-toe drop (4 mm). The Kinvara feels as though it disappears on my foot and does not slow me down at all when I'm speeding down the roads or track. I would use the Kinvara on any run up to about 15 miles when planning to include some faster paced miles. The Kinvara 11 is definitely worth adding to your shoe rotation.
The Kinvara 11 is my first ever "speed" shoe- something really light that works well on faster or shorter runs. I've always been pretty simple when it comes to my running shoes, as I once believed that one good pair was enough for everything; roads, trails, the track... you name it. After having expanded my shoe horizons, I've found that having specific shoes for the different kinds of running I participate in is an absolute godsend. For my speedy day needs, the Kinvara is an absolutely perfect match! Lightweight yet comfortable (thanks Saucony Form Fit cushion technology!), I barely notice the Kinvaras on my feet at all when I hit the pavement. The shoe is very straight lasted, which works for me because I have a very straight foot shape. It's breathable and soft, while also providing me the structure I need in a running shoe. I have always chosen running shoes that give me a lot of cushion, and despite the minimalistic nature of the Kinvara, it doesn't feel too far off of what I'm used to. I definitely don't think this is a shoe I will wear on my longer runs unless I am going for a PR, but I think depending on your needs and you comfort level with a lighter/more flexible shoe, it could carry you the distance. I'll estimate this shoe will last me 300 miles... probably not a mile more! But it's light structure is definitely a gift while I have it. This feels like a model that I could purchase over and over again as my go-to lightweight model. Would highly recommend! -Adrienne
I've been a Kinvara fan for many years and have seen this shoe change quite a bit since its inception. I'm a big fan of this update. It's a touch narrower than the Kinvara 10, but the underfoot feel does not disappoint. It's a little bit firmer and snappier than the previous iteration while maintaining the light weight and forefoot flexibility Kinvara wearers are accustomed to. These feel best on uptempo days but really do feel good at any pace and continue to be my go to shoe for racing from 5K to a half marathon.
I haven’t run real long in them yet, but on my 5k-10k,s i love them
